Day 1. Arrival at Ulaanbaatar

On arrival at the airport, you will meet your tour guide and be transferred to a hotel for freshening up. Tour starts with visiting Zaisan War Memorial Hill to have a panoramic view of the city. Afterward, drive to Gandantegchileng Monastery, the center of Mongolian Buddhists. The word ‘Gandantegchileng’ means ‘Great Place of Complete Joy’ in the Tibetan language. The monastery is the largest and most important active Buddhist site in Mongolia. In the afternoon, sightseeing tour of Bogd Khaan Winter Palace Museum.

Day 2. Ulaanbaatar to Sainshand
Distance: 480km
Driving duration: 6 hours

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Sainshand, a provincial center of Dornogovi. Situated in the southern part of Mongolia, Sainshand is 6 hours of driving from Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in Sainshand, transfer to a hotel and spend the evening at your leisure.

Day 3. Khamar Monastery & Energy Centre

Morning drive to Khamar monastery which was founded in the 1820s. Danzanravjaa, a founder, chose the site of the monastery believing the surrounding area radiated with spiritual energy fostered by the Gobi desert. To the north of the monastery lie a series of caves where monks would retreat and practice high levels of meditation for 108 continuous days. Enjoy watching a sunset in Gobi desert. Overnight stay in Sainshand.

Day 4. Sainshand to Ulaanbaatar
Distance: 480km
Driving duration: 6 hours

After breakfast at the hotel, return to Ulaanbaatar by car. In the late afternoon, arrive in the city. Transfer to a hotel and spend the evening at your leisure. (B/L/D) 480 km

Day 5. Ulaanbaatar to Kharkhorin

Distance: 370km
Driving duration: 6 hours
Kharkhorin town:

Begin the day by traveling to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of Mongolia. Kharkhorin is located in the territory of Orkhon River which is registered within UNESCO’s World Heritage Site Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape. Visit Kharkhorin archaeological museum in the afternoon. Overnight stay at ger camp in Kharkhorin.

Day 6. Erdene Zuu monastery at Kharkhorin town
Erdene Zuu monastery:

Morning visit Erdene Zuu Monastery. Built in the 16th century, Erdene Zuu is the largest and oldest Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia. Surrounded by 108 stupas, this monastery still has wall paintings, thangkas, and masks dating back to the 18th century. Erdene Zuu is still an active Buddhist monastery so that you can enjoy the morning chanting of monks. In the afternoon, visit Three Kings’ Monument that each represents the empires of the Hunnu, Turkic, and Mongol.

Day 7. Kharkhorin to Tsenkher Hot Springs via Tuvkhun monastery

Distance: 140 km
Driving duration: 4 hours

Tuvkhun monastery: 
After breakfast, head to Tuvkhun monastery. Built in the 16th century by Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, a spiritual head, and Buddhist artist, Tuvhun monastery is situated on the top of rocky forest mountain. This Buddhist monastery is registered in UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Hike through the mountain path brings you to Tuvkhun Monastery. In the late afternoon, drive to the Tsenkher Hot Springs of Arkhangai province. Spend the evening relaxing in a natural hot spring. Overnight stay at Duut Resort tourist camp.

Day 8. Tsenkher Hot Springs to Tsetserleg town

Distance: 90 km
Driving duration: 3 hours

Zayin Gegee Monastery:

Morning drive to Tsetserleg city, a provincial center of Arkhangai, 30 km away from the Duut Resort tourist camp. Tsetserleg city tour starts with a visit to Bulgan mountain. Proceed for the tour of a province museum in Arkhangai. The province museum was once a Buddhist temple named Zayin Gegee Monastery and later turned into a museum. Spend the evening at your leisure at Duut Resort tourist camp.

Day 9. Tsetserleg town to Khugnu Khan mountain

Distance: 200km
Driving duration: 5 hours

Uvgun Buddhist Temple:
Leave the camp at Tsenkher Hot Springs for Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes. It is a unique place with the combination of sand dunes, forests and rocky mountains. One of the landmarks in Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes is Uvgun Buddhist Temple built by His Holiness Zanabazar. The temple is located on the rocky Khugnu Khan mountain. Overnight stay at ger camp.

Day 10. Khugnu Khan mountain to Ulaanbaatar

Distance: 300km
Driving duration: 6 hours

After breakfast at the camp, drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, enjoy shopping for pure cashmere garments and souvenir gifts at State Department Store. End the day with a concert of Mongolian traditional folk art including Khuumii, long song, throat song, and contortion at Grand Theatre of Mongolia. Transfer to a hotel.
